FAWSEC Medical General Manager; Psychologist
Professional Experience and Affiliations:
I have worked as a U.S. licensed mental health provider for more than 20 years, specializing with young adults through the lifespan and couples. I utilize an integrative approach incorporating psychodynamic psychotherapy, humanistic, EFT, CBT, and mindfulness-based interventions. I enjoy helping individuals, couples, and families address a multitude of mental health concerns. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in therapy, thus my style is empathic, insight oriented, interactive, and interpersonally focused. I enjoy building close, nonjudgmental relationships with clients and feel immense amounts of gratitude and happiness when I see clients reach their goals and feel better about themselves, their relationships, and their lives.
Prior to joining FSHN, I worked across various clinical settings including community mental health centers, K-12 schools, and university settings such as the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Swarthmore College, and Suffolk University. Over the course of my career, I have also held various academic titles and positions. I previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Psychology and the Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the American University of Kuwait, and I currently hold a position as an Adjunct Professor in the College of Education at Lehigh University, Pennsylvania, USA, where I teach graduate level courses in counseling psychology. I have also published various research studies generally focused on international psychology and regularly present at international conferences and events.
In addition to my clinical role at FSHN, I am also the General Manager of FAWSEC Medical, the nonprofit organization that oversees FSHN and future subsidiaries. In this capacity, I work closely with FSHN management on various aspects of FSHN’s operation and expanding FAWSEC Medical into new healthcare ventures. I very much appreciate my administrative role because it gives me the privilege of being able to serve Kuwait at the community level by growing and improving healthcare service delivery.
I earned a master’s degree in Clinical Service Operations from Harvard University (Harvard Medical School), a master’s degree in Social Work from Bryn Mawr College, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology (with a specialization in Educational Psychology) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I completed an APA-accredited doctoral internship and a postdoctoral fellowship at UCLA. I have also earned postgraduate certificates from Harvard University (Harvard Medical School), Cornell University, NYU, and Boston University. I very much enjoy being a psychologist and helping others. I am consistently honored by the strength, courage, vulnerability, and trust clients demonstrate in therapy with me- it is truly a humbling gift.
