What Treatments are Available?

We believe (and scientific evidence shows) that comprehensive care using a multidisciplinary approach leads to the best outcomes in the treatment of mental health conditions. Our clinic is unique in this approach.

There are three primary treatment angles for mental health conditions: talk therapy (counseling), psychiatry (including medication management), and wellness activities. We offer each of these treatment modalities as part of our comprehensive care plans.

Therapy:
FSHN offers convenient, affordable, and private therapy via sessions with a dedicated licensed therapist. This treatment will help you better understand you and your concerns, develop a plan, and help you improve. Therapy is confidential, supportive, and nonjudgmental. We offer sessions in-person and remotely via health.

Psychiatry:
FSHN psychiatric providers will complete a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, and suggest a personalized treatment plan, which may include psychiatric medication. Once you start, your team will monitor your care, and adjust treatment as necessary so you get the best outcomes.

There’s no guarantee that all patients will receive a prescription. Medication will be prescribed if it is determined to be a safe, effective, and appropriate treatment option for you.
We offer sessions in-person and remotely via telehealth.

Wellness:
FSHN offers additional wellness treatments that can help build skills and resilience, delivering improvements that complement therapy and medication. These treatments can include functional medicine, exercise therapy, yoga, mindfulness programs, and sound healing. We also have a dietician who can support your goals.

Team-Based Approach:
FSHN also has a team of occupational therapists, speech therapists, physiotherapists, behavioral therapists, a functional medicine doctor, and a dietician. We all work as a team to make sure you feel better.

What ages do you treat?

We treat people of all ages. Some problems start showing signs in childhood and early intervention is important. Of course, with children, we always want to be extra cautious and fortunately, we have outstanding psychiatrists who are specialized in working with children. They will be able to diagnose the problem and provide recommendations that are safe and backed by international best practices.

Our specialists also work with adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. In cases where mobility is a concern or people can’t come to the clinic, we can consult remotely.

Is it confidential?

Except in emergency situations, all our mental health services are completely private and confidential. Anyone under the age of 21 will need to have consent from their parents/legal guardian.

What are your prescription practices?

At FSHN, you’ll always be cared for by an expert psychiatric care team. Your provider is by your side throughout your path to feeling better – from making adjustments to your personal treatment plan until it’s right, to helping decide if and when it’s time to taper off medication.

Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, your psychiatric provider will determine which medication is best for you. We will track you closely and advise if/when any changes are necessary.

We are conservative, safe, and adhere to international best practices.

Are psychiatric medications dangerous or addictive?

Great question- many people worry about this. Most medications do not pose a risk of addiction. These medications alleviate symptoms and improve your health but there is no craving, and the outcome of use is positive.

That said, some prescription medications to relieve anxiety and improve sleep, however, can pose a risk of addiction in people prone to addictions. Many medicines do have the potential for side effects. However, most people don’t experience them and when they do, your doctor will be able to help them stop. To avoid these problems, you should only take medications prescribed to you by someone trained and licensed. You should also be monitored closely by a team. Doing so, greatly reduces the risk of habit formation and uncomfortable side effects.

Generally, the benefits of trying medication usually outweigh the possible risks and people typically respond favorably. Of course, we are here to help and are happy to respond to additional questions. Speak with your FSHN psychiatrist or treatment team if you have specific questions or concerns.
